For the duration of this summer, I have not worked on music. It was really hard to stop when I heard God in prayer. He told me I couldn’t make music, and He didn’t tell me whether I’d ever be allowed to make it again.
Over the coming months, I realized that I had been seeking my own glory. I wanted my music to be proof to others of how great I thought I was. One of the problems with that kind of thinking: no amount of praise is ever enough.
Humans weren’t designed to handle the kind of glory and praise that God deserves.
This past Monday, I was praying and asking God if I could make music again, and He said, “yes.” Earlier that morning, I had read John 7. Jesus said something in John 7 that was perfectly pertaining to my situation:
“Those who speak for themselves want glory only for themselves, but a person who seeks to honor the one who sent him speaks truth, not lies.” John 7:18 (NLT)
What I create, I want to co-create with Jesus. It’s His story; it’s His glory. If you’re a creator, I encourage you to create for Him with Him.
